Getting plants ordered for spring.

I've been working on the signage for the shrub and perennial lot. We are getting in some really fun new plants. Just going over all the catalogs and lists and it's making me wish spring was already here but then I look up and realize winter is still here. But not for long. Keep looking through your gardening books. Remember this is the planning time of year. We will again carry the great compost and Lynde potting soil mix that we all love. If you would like a particular shrub, tree or perennial, now is the time to tell us so we can get it ordered.
Until next week.

this week in the greenhouse

Are we all still surviving the winter? This week we planted the pillar Geraniums for the spring season. The Easter Lilies are growing along. I'll start putting together our Lynde Design combo program on paper shortly. That way when they get planted this Spring there won't be any confusion on how they go together. Everyone is busy fixing and cleaning things up. The store is getting ready to open April 1st. They're putting out new product and designing a new store layout. It's looking refreshing! January is almost over, which means Spring is soon to come. Few more weeks of getting our thoughts together and then the season will be under way. Keep smiling, warm temps will be here soon.

Care for your dormant trees

Welcome to Lynde Greenhouse! I hope you are having a Great New Year. The weather has warmed up a bit and I am sure you have all received at least 1 new gardening magazine or catalog already. Things you can do now: if you are wanting to go outside, now is a great time to properly prune your trees. Oaks, Flowering Crabs, Fruit trees and many more are best pruned NOW until the end of March. So get a pruners/hand saw or chainsaw and a ladder (if needed) as well as a friend to help direct you when you are up in the tree. All of the branches seem to look alike when you're up in the branches. The main thing to trim are branches that are rubbing or growing into the tree and dead or injured branches. No more than 1/3 of the tree can be trimmed or you will create more work in the future. Do not prune too close to the trunk so it will be able to heal over from the cut without leaving a stub. Under cut if branches are large. If you have questions please call or reply to our blog. Until next week.
Be safe and happy,

The Cure for Cabin Fever - from the grower

Taking a slower start this year to keep our heating costs low. Just planted mums for Easter and will be getting in Geraniums this week. Spring is on the horizon and soon we will be buzzing around and planting like crazy. Looking forward to warmer days and our new arrivals, especially the Pansies which are a sure sign of Spring.

I'll do my best to keep up with the behind the scenes activity here at the greenhouse. Enjoy your winter vacations and hope to see you after we open April 1st! If you don't get to lay on a beach somewhere; we're the next best thing!
